does the shopping season stress you out? i definitely feel some anxiety during the season with all of the hustle and bustle. i am going to work to create purposeful time with my loved ones to enjoy the season together.

as for shopping small – EVERYONE WINS! i always feel great about supporting small businesses. the care, the packaging, the product delivery allll make me happy to know i am gifting intentionally from a business who cares about their craft. 😍

today’s mantra: i will press onward in the face of challenges to achieve accomplishment and success.

when things get difficult – projects, jobs, relationships, pets, workout routines, nutrition plans, & beyond – do we give up? how many times must we experience failure before we feel success? 🤔

i printed this little postcard this weekend. i spent most of Saturday working on a different card to mail out to my neighbors. finally at the end of the day i looked at the proposed prototype in comparison to others i had designed previously. i like the previous versions better. 🤷🏻‍♀️ oh well!

today’s mantra: i am okay with where i am today – for better or worse. i love me where i am.

unicorn city news update:

research and planning takes a while! along with regular life and work responsibilities and a dash of non-covid sickness i feel like I have been making slow progress.

decisions to make: for profit business vs. non-profit business

weighing out pros and cons. obvi i want to build something meaningful that matters to society and helps hoomans. non-profit set up and management seems to need much paperwork etc. to get everything rolling.

also, sustainability. i am looking at post card products that are recycled and reusable. trying to tick that earth friendly box as well.

all things take time is suppose but sometimes should ya just jump right in??? maybe so…

today’s mantra: i will do something healthy for my body today to feed my mind happy endorphins. 💖


breast cancer awareness is on my mind today as i want to speak to it before #breastcancerawarenessmonth is over. the first time i had a mammogram i went in for a painful lump. that happens they said sometimes during certain times of the month. i learned at that moment that cancerous lumps are not generally painful. they then proceeded to tell me that i did however have a concerning lump on the other side. they measured and took pictures and i felt it all going slow motion. the doctor chatted with me and stated that we were going to monitor it for growth in the next 6 months. okay, so, not THAT alarming…

6 month check up all was well – no growth. see ya in another 6.

12 month check up – the lump doubled in size. you can tell when the doctor is worried – have you ever dealt with anything like that? you can see the concern on their face and the speed at which you get your next appointment is lightning speed. ⚡️


that’s when i cried a mountain of tears. i am a single momma of four babies. i wanted to stick around. my mind went into tizzy mode. my friend took me to dinner with my puffy eyes. i bought a white swimsuit – it was sort of a yolo moment for me lol. we swam that night and spun circles in our donut floaties. i felt better…a little. she helped me calm my brain and realize might not die which is what i was certain of earlier in the day.

know you are loved. whatever health challenge you are experiencing or will experience, reach out to others if you feel alone. i felt very alone. i didn’t really know who to tell. but I broke down and called my one friend i thought i could and she lifted me.

take a walk. get outside. smile. practice feeling happy until it becomes more natural. be grateful. meditate. your body fuels your mind power. 🧠

unicorn city news update:

i have goals. things are rollin along. never as quickly as one would hope i suppose but hey just keep swimming, right?! the day job has been keeping me busy. i love this little unicorn project tho – it inspires me to share messages that may ‘make a difference to that one”. Remember the starfish poem?

someone asked me yesterday why i choose to highlight mental health. i spewed out a ton of reasons. people i know and love suffer from mental health challenges. i really want to just be a part of eliminating the negative stigmas associated with mental health challenges.

suicide, self harm, depression – all very real challenges teenagers and adults in our lives face. by adding cute critters and rainbow horns to positive messages, i hope to simply do my part to spread awareness and love for all hoomans.

i read a line in a book i started reading – it asked if we are going through life as if it is a dress rehearsal. i thought about that. in some ways, yes, it feels like it. like we are waiting for someone to rescue us or to sprinkle a million dollars all around or to hand us the magic wand that will undo all that we’ve done. 💥 surprise! 💥 we are in the thick of act two of The Play Called Your Life right now. act three may be short. or long. or…who knows?
